True Harmony

September 25, 2008

This week (Sept. 22, 08) I had a unique opportunity to do some recording at Harvest Gospel Studio in Huntington, WV.

Evangelist Byron Foxx, president and founder of Bible Truth Music, had conducted a regional BTM Choir Conference at my church Ripley Baptist Temple last weekend. He was also with us Sunday Morning,Byron Foxx and as it turned out I was practicing with the Mill Creek Boys that afternoon, so he got to hear us play. Brother Foxx is part of a new group called True Harmony, and they are currently working on a CD featuring gospel songs played on traditional instruments. He graciously invited me to come play on one of the songs on their album, “Glory to His Name”. I played around with the song the rest of the afternoon, until I came up with an arrangement I liked.

The next day I went to Harvest Gospel to record. I only ended up playing on the song for about 30 sec, but I enjoyed the experience and getting to work with Byron Foxx and Mark Hale, engineer and owner of the studio. Surprisingly, I recorded my part in only two takes, which was a relief. God gave me the arrangement and allowed me to play it just right.

I really liked the studio atmosphere. It was nice to be able to sit down in front of a mic and be able to put my full attention on what I was playing. When I’m recording in my home studio I have to be the engineer, producer, and musician all at the same time! That’s kind of neat, but it can also be a hassle at times. More on my CD project and home studio later…

I’m not sure when the CD will be released, but I’ll be sure to let you all know when it’s available. I listened to a few samples, and I think it’s going to be a great recording. I can’t wait to hear the finished product.

    Adam,
It was good to hear about your studio experience; perhaps you’ll get more opportunities in the future. mark Hale is a great guy. Our quartet was down there for a couple days in May working on our first CD. We just recently received the finished product. Just keep using your talents for God.

    Hi Adam,

So glad to hear you were able to “crack the door open” on yet another layer of your success! Maybe one of these days you will break the door down too.

    Your Fan Always!

    Hi Folks,

What Adam didn’t tell you is that he played that break great the first time, however he (Adam) heard one tiny, miniscule, little imperfection, so he asked if he could play it again – that one was perfect.

Thank you Adam for sharing your time and your talent with us last week. I am so happy to see the Lord raising up another fine young Christian musician who desires to serve Him with excellence. We were all very impressed and very proud of you. You did a wonderful job and we are looking forward to the day you are back in the studio with us again – hopefully it won’t be long!

    Sincerely,
    Mark Hale
